Getting to Nairobi

Flights & Arrival

✈️

Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO)

Nairobi's international airport is the main arrival point, with direct connections from Europe, the Middle East, other African hubs and — via one stop — from Asia.

🕐

Allow Time for Arrival Formalities

Immigration and baggage can take time at peak arrival hours. Build buffer into onward plans on your arrival day.

🚗

Pre-Arrange Your Transfer

Arrange an airport transfer through your hotel or a recognised service in advance rather than negotiating on arrival.

🌉

Airport to Nairobi CBD

The venue is in the CBD. Journey times vary substantially with Nairobi traffic — plan generously, particularly in peak hours.

Traffic is the main variable in Nairobi. Journey times between the airport, the CBD and the suburbs can differ by an hour or more depending on time of day — the Mombasa Road expressway has improved airport runs, but city traffic remains heavy at peak hours. Where possible, stay in the CBD or Upper Hill to keep the daily commute to the venue short.
Accommodation

Where to Stay

Staying close to the venue is worth paying for in Nairobi. The recommended zones are the CBD, Upper Hill and Westlands.

🏨

Nairobi CBD

The venue's own district. Highest concentration of international-standard business hotels and the shortest commute — often walkable or a very short drive.

🏨

Upper Hill

Adjacent business district with premium hotels and serviced apartments. Short drive to KICC outside peak hours.

🏨

Westlands

Nairobi's dining and hospitality hub with a wide hotel and apartment supply. Good value and atmosphere, with peak-hour traffic to the CBD the main consideration.

⭐

International Chains

Major international hotel brands operate across the CBD, Upper Hill and Westlands and are the usual choice for exhibitor teams and delegations.

💼

Serviced Apartments

Practical for teams staying the full build-up and show period, and generally better value than multiple hotel rooms.

👥

Group Bookings

For blocks of five rooms or more, contact the organiser — group rates and coordinated transfers can often be arranged.

Hotel list to be added. Named hotel recommendations with indicative rates and distances should be confirmed with the Kenya team and added here before launch. This page currently gives zones only.
Getting Around

Local Transport & Practicalities

Transport

  • Hotel-arranged cars are the most reliable option for business visitors
  • Ride-hailing apps operate in Nairobi — use in-app booking and payment
  • Avoid unmarked street taxis and unsolicited transport offers
  • Allow generous time for every journey — traffic is the constraint, not distance
  • For delegations, arrange a dedicated vehicle for the full show period

Practical Guidance

  • Keep passport and valuables in the hotel safe; carry a copy of your passport and visa
  • Use cards at hotels, malls and established restaurants; carry limited cash for small payments
  • Drink bottled or filtered water only
  • Buy a local SIM at the airport or a hotel-recommended outlet if you need reliable data
  • Keep the organiser's on-site number saved for the duration of your visit
  • Follow standard urban precautions, particularly after dark
